More sounds for digital accordions

ROMMEX is a MIDI expander with 700 sounds. There is a distinct difference between ROMMEX and other V3 SOUND models: ROMMEX was specifically developed as an integrated part of digital accordions FR-7x, FR-8x and BUGARI-EVO-HARIA*. You can call up all of the sounds directly from the display and also adjust the parameters, such as volume, reverb, chorus or panorama. You can save and retrieve the sounds as easily as if they were part of the original instrument.

ROMMEX offers 4 GB flash memory, 13,400 samples, and 256-voice polyphony created with cutting-edge sampling technology. The ROMMEX sounds, created by more than 20 sound designers.

Hardware Connection

To transfer the data, use a MIDI or USB connection between the sound expander and your digital accordion. To hear the sounds, connect the ROMMEX audio out to your mixer, amplifier or powered speaker. See the user manual for specific instructions.

SOUNDS

PIANO & E-PIANOS (46 Sounds)

Photo soundmodulROMMEX Grand Piano lets you dive into panoramas of piano sound. Samples of the renowned Vienna-made Imperial 290 concert piano create the heart of these sounds. The piano is also available in many musical varieties, such as rock, Latin or classical. Other sounds in this group include honky-tonk piano and harpsichord.
To achieve a more authentic sound, piano chords are available for the chord keys, which output the notes slightly delayed. This ensures a softer piano accompaniment, especially on slow songs.

E-pianos are represented by an electric grand (CP) and e-piano (model Dyno) sound. The sounds have multiple levels of note-off samples to create sounds as authentic as the real instruments.

TUNED (18 Sounds)

Metallophones, lamellophones and idiophones are all part of the tuned sounds. This group also includes the Glockenspiel, kalimba, music box, steel drums, vibraphone (with or without vibrato), xylophone and marimba. Many of these programs use Round Robin sampling technology, which produces an automatic shuffling of different samples when a key is pressed more than once. This brings your music to life – not only when playing single tones, but also when playing complete MIDI files and styles.

ORGAN (79 Sounds)

This sound bank includes a great selection of organs: jazz and German entertainer organs, each with fast and slow rotary effects, as well as English theater organs. Travel back in time with select sounds of the Cordovox electric accordion from the 1970s.

ACCORDION (147 Sounds)

Samples on instruments from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, as well as France, Ireland and Scotland make up this huge selection of accordion sounds. Sounds with great tremolo or “flat tuning” are available along with musette tuning and other specialties of French and Belgian instruments. Jazz lovers will enjoy the Super VI model and the Accordiona; friends of Swiss folk music will love the Schwyzer Örgelis; and Oberkrainer fans will like the two Alpine models. For Austrian music there are two Steirische Harmonikas.

All sounds have note-off samples: When you let go of the key, you can hear the resonance of the reeds and the housing. The sound does not stop abruptly; it resonates just like the real instrument. This resonance fills the space between the notes played. Without it, the accordion sounds become “on/off” music – artificial and not musical at all.

RPC TECHNOLOGY – Realtime Phase Linear Control
Many of our accordions use RPC technology. In addition to volume control, the bellows dynamic (MIDI controller 11) also generates a change in overtones. The harder you pull, the brighter and more aggressive the sound becomes.

GUITAR (34 Sounds) | BASS (41 Sounds)

Variety is also programmed into the guitar sound bank. The wide selection incorporates everything from classical nylon guitars, jazz, electric and overdrive guitars to banjos and rhythm and pedal steel guitars. For Mediterranean flair, use the mandolin ensemble from Naples with tremolo and single picking. The integrated Round Robin function creates lively sounds.

To make the guitar sounds authentic using a keyboard, activate the slide-up samples by hitting a key hard. Give your music the right spice with samples that include string and fretboard noise, which are called up randomly by letting go of the key (note-off).

All about that bass: E-bass (also with a slap version), synth bass sounds and contrabass (plucked and bowed) are included in the sound bank, as well as a contrabass especially for traditional German folk music.

STRINGS (38 Sounds)

Highlights of the strings include a classical solo violin, a Celtic fiddle, and a Zillertaler violin, which are played with automatically alternating up and down bow. Since the range of a string instrument depends on its size, samples of violins, violas, cellos and contrabasses are distributed across the whole keyboard – with overlaps at the thresholds. Full strings can be played like an instrument. Disco and synth strings complete the selection of classical instruments.

BRASS (46 Sounds)

The brass sounds are represented by a variety of solo instruments: trumpet, coronet, horn, trombone and tuba, as well as a solo baritone horn for Oberkrainer music. The trumpet and trombone sections include articulations of falls, gliss-up, sforzato and shake. You can even add extras such as muted trumpets, tenor horn vibrato and a tuba ensemble.

SAXOPHONE (25 Sounds) | WOODWINDS (35 Sounds)

Members of the saxophone family – soprano, alto, tenor and baritone – have solo and sectional variations. Special articulations like smooth vibrato and funky growl enrich your play.

Oboe, English horn, bassoon, clarinet, piccolo, flute, panpipes, Celtic whistle (high/low), to name a few, are all included in the woodwind instrument group.

SYNTHESIZER (71 Sounds) | CHOIR (14 Sounds)

Our synth bank ranges from retro synthesizers and digital classics to standard dance sounds in many versions. Choirs are in their own sound bank in “aah”, “ooh” and “doo” varieties. Synthesizer voices are also available.

ETHNO &FX EFFEKTE (48 Voices)

The ethnic instruments include a Scottish solo bagpipe, a group of “Highland Pipers,” an Irish Uilleann pipe with drones and an accompanying accordion for Celtic music, a 5-octave Appenzeller dulcimer and a 3-octave Tyrolean-style dulcimer. Solo alphorns and alphorn ensembles, cow bells, zither, harp and Jew’s harp can also be found in this sound bank. Many of these sounds use Round Robin technology to give your music richness and authenticity.

GUITAR SPECIAL | full chords (23 Sounds)

Aaccordion players like to use chord guitars because the guitar accompaniment fits so well when playing the bass (left) side of the accordion. This combination is also possible with appropriately programmed MIDI files. The guitar samples were played by none other than the greats in this field: Renato Verlič (Orig. Oberkrainer), Gerhard Kometer (Tiroler Echo), Edi Köhldorfer (Global Kryner) and Sabrina Klotz (Die Vielsaitigen).

Complete chords were sampled to create authentic sounds. In some cases, as with Edi Köhldorfer, even up to 8 bars of accompaniment patterns in typical Oberkrainer drive were sampled. Steel-stringed guitars played with a pick are available in as many as four varieties: an acoustic guitar with the microphone directly on the guitar body, on the guitar amp, a direct pick-up from the guitar through a DI box, and as a mix of different recording methods.

If you are looking for pure acoustical guitar, check out Sabrina Klotz plucking her nylon-stringed guitar. These sounds let you play Bavarian folk music that will sound just like the real thing. All of the guitar sounds run Round Robin technology, switching samples automatically behind the scenes to keep the sound fresh and real.

DRUMS | Tradition – Classic – Pop

The three drum kits TRADITION – CLASSIC – POP have been specially developed for use on a digital accordion. Holding the keys for a while turns a single beat into a roll, and automatic alternating samples bring life into your play.
